FIFA: Attack on Chibi a matter for Egypt
Mohamed Sherin, the head of the disciplinary committee of the Egyptian Football Association, revealed that the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) has recently responded to his correspondence regarding the case involving Mohamed Chibi and Hussein El-Shahat.
Sherin, speaking to Egyptian media outlets, stated that FIFA, in its response, deemed the matter to fall within the internal affairs of the Egyptian Football Association, asserting that as an international body, FIFA has no jurisdiction over it.
The spokesperson further emphasized that a final decision has yet to be made regarding the Chibi case, indicating that a comprehensive review of the file from all angles is ongoing before a conclusive verdict is reached.
Two weeks ago, the disciplinary committee heard from the Moroccan international, Mohamed Chibi, who presented his arguments and all evidence demonstrating that he was subjected to verbal and physical assault by the Egyptian player, Hussein El-Shahat, during a match between Pyramids and Al-Ahly last season.
Additionally, the misdemeanors court in Nasr City is also examining this case, with a judgment expected by the end of this month.
