After an extensive period of negotiation, young Senegalese defender Sidi Bane is poised to depart Belarusian club BATE Borisov and make a move to French Ligue 1 side Racing Club de Lens.
Despite efforts by BATE Borisov to secure an extension of Bane’s contract, the 20-year-old has opted to seek new opportunities, with Lens emerging as his likely destination for the upcoming summer transfer window.
Having received an offer to extend his contract, Bane, whose current deal with BATE Borisov expires in December, has made the decision to decline the proposal, paving the way for his departure from the club.
In a bid to avoid losing Bane on a free transfer, BATE Borisov’s management has opted to capitalize on his departure by negotiating a transfer fee with Lens.
According to sources, the fee is reported to be in excess of €280,000, securing Bane’s permanent move to the French club.
At Lens, Bane is expected to become part of a long-term project, filling a potential void left by the departure of Austrian defender Kevin Danso.
The move represents an exciting opportunity for the Senegalese talent to further develop his career in one of Europe’s top leagues.
Bane’s journey to Lens began with his discovery by BATE Borisov during a trial period in Turkey.
Following his signing in April 2022, he steadily rose through the ranks, establishing himself as a key figure in BATE’s defense by October 2022.
Since then, Bane has become a mainstay in the BATE Borisov lineup, featuring prominently in the 2022-2023 season with 45 appearances and 5 goals to his name.
His consistent performances have attracted attention from clubs across Europe, culminating in his imminent move to RC Lens.
As Bane prepares to embark on the next chapter of his career with Lens, fans eagerly anticipate his arrival and the impact he will make in the French top flight.
