Despite efforts to curb violence through awareness campaigns at the beginning of the season, incidents of violence continue to mar Togolese football matches. The Togolese Football Federation (FTF) is taking a strong stance against such behavior this season.
Gbikinti has become the first club to face sanctions due to the misconduct of their supporters. During the third-round match against AS Togo Port, violence erupted at the end of the game. Supporters were found guilty of throwing objects at the referees and some members of the AS Togo Port team.
As a result, Gbikinti has been handed a stadium suspension for their next two matches and fined 500,000 FCFA. They will play their upcoming match against Gomido at the Atakpamé stadium.
