Eto’o, the captain of the Indomitable Lions, spoke highly of the Ivorian midfielder, stating, “This is exceptional! Look at what he achieved with Manchester City; it’s phenomenal. For me, there’s no doubt. Yaya Touré is the best player in the world. He had an extraordinary season. The goals he scores with his team are incredible. If it was Lionel Messi who had done it, we would have immediately said he was the best player on the planet. Yaya Touré scores goals that Lionel Messi, Pelé, or other great players have scored. He often starts from his own half of the field to score goals.”
