Mehdi Benatia, hailed as AS Roma’s standout player by the conclusion of the 2013-2014 season, finds himself at the center of attention from several top European clubs. While initial speculation pointed towards a potential move to Manchester City, recent rumors have linked the Moroccan defender with Bayern Munich.
However, Matthias Sammer, the general manager of the Bavarian club, has quelled such talks by stating that Bayern Munich has yet to initiate discussions regarding potential transfers. Nevertheless, he openly acknowledges Benatia’s exceptional abilities, expressing admiration for the Moroccan international’s talent.
“Of course, we are aware of his capabilities, but discussions need to take place first,” Sammer commented.
Currently, Bayern Munich’s focus lies on achieving domestic success after their Champions League campaign fell short. Following their league triumph, the club is setting its sights on the German Cup final, aiming to secure a double.
