The recent tragic incident during the match between Vita Club and TP Mazembe in the DR Congo championship playoffs has prompted authorities to take precautionary measures. Following a stampede that resulted in the loss of 15 lives, the Ministry of the Interior and Security of the DR Congo has limited ticket sales for future matches at the Tata Raphaël stadium in Kinshasa, including the upcoming game between Vita Club and Zamalek.
Only 5,000 tickets will be available for sale to mitigate any risk of overcrowding and ensure the safety of spectators. This decision was made in collaboration with officials from the Congolese Football Federation (Fecofa) and relevant security services.
Additionally, the FECOFA Executive Committee, led by President Constant Omari, has conducted an inspection of the stadium to implement additional security measures ahead of the V. Club-Zamalek match. Despite Zamalek’s request for a venue change, the match is set to proceed at the Tata Raphaël stadium with heightened security protocols in place.
