2026 World Cup Qualifiers: Noussair Mazraoui to be dropped from Morocco squad for Niger and Zambia
Morocco head coach Walid Regragui has opted to leave Manchester United defender Noussair Mazraoui out of the Atlas Lions’ squad for the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers due to injury.
This decision is to allow him to recover from a lingering injury.
Mazraoui, who missed Morocco’s previous camp in June, was sidelined for the friendlies against Tunisia and Benin due to the same fitness issues.
Since the start of the Premier League season, the former Bayern Munich defender has yet to start a game for Manchester United due to injury setbacks.
To reinforce the squad, Regragui plans to call up Sofiane El Karouani of Utrecht and Omar El Hilali of Espanyol for the upcoming camp.
In the upcoming September international break, Morocco will face Niger and Zambia in crucial qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.
