The head coach of Zimbabwe, Michael Nees, is confident his team can defeat Nigeria in the qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The tactician believes the Super Eagles of Nigeria messed up their campaign in the qualifiers early on and are now paying for it.
Despite the situation Nigeria finds itself in, coach Michael Nees admits that the Super Eagles have quality and his side must tread cautiously ahead of their Round 6 encounter in the qualifiers.
“It’s halfway through the campaign and Nigeria, from the names, it’s top class, absolutely top class and they messed their campaign from the beginning really up, it’s the third coach now involved in this campaign, they won in Rwanda, which was for them always a difficult opponent really,” Zimbabwe coach Michael Nees told journalists on Sunday during his team’s training.
Zimbabwe will face a tough task on Tuesday, March 25, when the side takes on Nigeria at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo.
Zimbabwe, winless so far in the qualifiers drew 2-2 with Benin in their last game while Nigeria showed impressive determination to secure a 2-0 win against Rwanda away from home.
