2026 World Cup Qualifiers: Namibia sacks two players from camp ahead of São Tomé and Príncipe game

Two Namibian internationals have been released from the national team camp ahead of Tuesday’s 2026 World Cup qualifier against São Tomé and Príncipe at Francistown Stadium.

Goalkeeper Loydt Kazapua, formerly of Chippa United, and striker Isaskar Gurirab were sent home on Friday for breaching team rules.

Reports indicate both players left the team hotel without permission following Namibia’s 2-1 defeat to Malawi at Obed Itani Chilume Stadium.

Neither Kazapua nor Gurirab featured in the loss, remaining unused substitutes.

Brave Warriors head coach Collin Benjamin expressed hope that the team could move past the disciplinary setback as they prepare for their next fixture.

“I think obviously the disappointment is there mostly because we had a good game, we controlled the match and created a few clear chances but we were unable to finish. The opponents managed to find the lead in the first five minutes because of a silly mistake we made and they capitalized on that but its normal,” Benjamin told reporters after the defeat,” he said.

“We have to come down and analyse the situation, we have to work on minimizing the mistakes and look forward to the Sao Tome match and we are the Brave Warriors, we are only out when the fat lady sings.”
