2026 World Cup: Marc Brys unveils Cameroon squad for playoff clash with DR Congo

Cameroon head coach Marc Brys has announced a 28-man squad for the 2026 World Cup playoffs, as the Indomitable Lions prepare to face DR Congo in Rabat, Morocco.

The Belgian tactician, 61, has selected a blend of established internationals and emerging talents for the decisive qualification stage, which will determine Africa’s final representatives at next summer’s tournament in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Among the headline names are experienced figures such as captain Vincent Aboubakar, currently playing for Neftchi Baku, and first-choice goalkeeper André Onana of Trabzonspor.

They are joined by a strong European-based contingent including Bryan Mbeumo (Manchester United), Carlos Baleba (Brighton), and Napoli’s André-Frank Zambo Anguissa.

According to the Confederation of African Football (CAF), the playoff tournament will take place from 13 to 16 November 2025 in Rabat.

Cameroon will open their campaign against DR Congo on Thursday, 13 November, at 19:00 GMT, with Mauritania’s Beida Dahane officiating the fixture.

The squad reflects Brys’s commitment to experience and versatility, balancing established veterans with rising prospects such as Rennes defender Mahamadou Nagida and Lorient midfielder Arthur Avom.

The Belgian coach is expected to rely on a compact, physical style against a DR Congo side also brimming with quality.
