The head coach of Senegal’s U20 national team, Serigne Saliou Dia, has admitted that his team finds itself in a difficult group at the 2025 CAF U20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.
The defending champions are in Group C with Ghana, DR Congo, and the Central African Republic.
After two games in the tournament, Senegal are winless having drawn 1-1 with Central African Republic in their opening game before losing 1-0 to Ghana in their second game.
Speaking to CAFOnline, Coach Serigne Saliou Dia said his side finds itself in a very difficult group.
“I can say this is one of the very difficult groups,” coach coach said before adding, “For example, the Democratic Republic of Congo is a team we know very well. They are a team that has been progressing on a daily basis.
With no win in their first two matches, Senegal are third in the Group C standings, trailing DR Congo and Ghana, both tied on four points.
Senegal must now win against DR Congo in their final Group C game of the tournament to have any chance of advancing to the knockout stage.
