The Black Satellites of Ghana has been drawn into Group C for the upcoming CAF Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament to be staged in Egypt.
Ghana, who are four-time winners of the continental trophy will be hoping prove themselves again on the African stage, having recently fallen.
Last week, the national team nicknamed the Black Satellites resumed training in Accra as part of preparations for next month’s tournament.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) had to conduct a new draw for the tournament following the unexpected withdrawal of original host, Ivory Coast.
At the draw in Cairo on Sunday afternoon, Ghana were handed a tricky draw after being paired against defending champions, Senegal, DR Congo and Central Africa Republic in Group C.
Nigeria, who are the competition’s record champions with seven titles were pitted in Group B against, Tunisia, Kenya and Morocco.
Meanwhile, host nation, Egypt will compete in Group A alongside, Zambia, Sierra Leone, Tanzania and South Africa.
The top two teams from each group, plus the two best third-placed teams, will advance to the quarter-finals.
The tournament is set to kick off on Sunday, April 27, 2025, and will conclude with the final on May 18, 2025.
It will showcase the best young football talents from across Africa, with teams competing not only for continental glory but also for a spot in the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile later this year.
The CAF U-20 AFCON has long served as a springboard to stardom. Past editions have spotlighted players like Mohamed Salah, Andre Ayew, and Victor Osimhen, who all went on to feature at the highest levels of the global game.
