Chelsea delivered a commanding performance to defeat Esperance 3-0 in their final Group D clash at the Lincoln Financial Field early Wednesday, sealing their place in the next round of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
Esperance began the match with intensity, but their early momentum faded quickly. Chelsea took control of the game with two quickfire goals just before halftime. Tosin Adarabioyo opened the scoring with a well-placed header in the 45+3rd minute, and Liam Delap doubled the lead two minutes later with a simple finish from close range.
Despite some substitutions, Esperance struggled to create chances and failed to register a single big opportunity throughout the game. Tyrique George put the result beyond doubt in stoppage time, scoring Chelsea’s third goal after a swift counterattack led by Andrey Santos.
The Tunisian side exits the tournament after finishing third in Group D with just three points from three matches. Chelsea, who dominated with 74% possession and 16 shots, now march into the knockout stage full of confidence.
