2025 CAF Awards: Morocco U20 star Othmane Maamma named Men’s Young Player of the Year

Moroccan sensation Othmane Maamma has been named the 2025 CAF Men’s Young African Player of the Year at the awards ceremony held in Rabat on Wednesday.

The 20-year-old Watford midfielder was instrumental in Morocco U-20’s historic triumph at last month’s World Cup, helping the team become the first African and Arab side to lift the trophy.

Maamma’s outstanding performances throughout the tournament earned him the Best Player award, showcasing his exceptional skill, vision, and composure on the big stage.

Meanwhile, Moroccan talent Doha El Madani has been named the 2025 CAF Women’s Young Player of the Year, following a standout season in women’s football.

El Madani has emerged as one of Morocco’s brightest prospects, earning recognition for her impressive performances with AS FAR.

She finished as the top scorer at the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League, helping her club secure a second-place finish and cementing her status as one of Africa’s most promising young stars.
