2025 AFCON: Morocco FA president Fouzi Lekjaa reveals date of readiness of stadia

The president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, Fouzi Lekjaa, confirmed that the stadiums that will host the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) matches will be fully ready seven months before the start of the tournament.
The North African country will host the 35th edition of the AFCON tournament later this year from December 21 to January 18.

Morocco will later then host the 2030 World Cu with Spain and Portugal.

Addressing the media on Thursday, February 27, after a meeting with the Moroccan Prime Minister, Lekjaa said: “It is certainly a commitment that does not accept outbidding. We are continuing to work at a pace that satisfies and reassures us. It can be confirmed that the CAN stadiums will be delivered ahead of schedule and with the finest details. I can tell you the timing of the delivery of each stadium.”

“The Mohammed V Stadium in Casablanca will be ready for opening at the end of next March, followed by the opening of the stadiums in Fez, Marrakech, and Agadir, followed by the stadiums in Rabat, and before the end of next August, work will be completed on the stadiums of Al-Barid and Moulay Hassan in the capital Rabat.”

Lekjaa stressed, “These projects are not only part of the preparations for the African Cup, but are also the first step in Morocco’s preparations to organize the 2030 World Cup, in addition to hosting major sporting events in the coming years”
