2025 AFCON: All 24 countries have what it takes to win the cup – Nigeria coach Eric Chelle
The head coach of Nigeria’s Super Eagles, Eric Sekou Chelle is backing his side to win the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.
However, he admits that all the other 23 countries that will be competing at the tournament in Morocco have what it takes to win the trophy as well.
Speaking after the official draw for the 2025 AFCON on Monday, January 27, coach Eric Chelle said he wants to focus on Nigeria’s upcoming games in the qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
“Anyone in the AFCON can win the tournament. But now, I need to watch my players, I need to work with them. I need to stay focused on the two games in March,” coach Eric Chelle said.
At the end of the AFCON draw on Monday, Nigeria was pitted in Group C to face Tunisia, Uganda and Tanzania.
The upcoming AFCON will be held in Morocco from December 21, 2025 to January 18, 2026.
