2024 WAFCON: Nigeria and Algeria advance to the knockout stage after draw in last Group B game

Nigeria and Algeria are through to the knockout stage of the 2024 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The national teams of the two countries locked horns on Sunday night in their final Group B game of the tournament being staged in Morocco.

In the big game of the group, both Nigeria and Algeria put up a top performance, but neither side could find the back of the net.

After a goalless stalemate, the Super Falcons of Nigeria earned top spot in the group with seven points.

Algeria, with five points, has finished second in the group and joins Nigeria to progress to the knockout stage of the tournament.

In the other Group B game played on Sunday, Botswana scored late in added time to stun Tunisia with a 2-1 comeback victory.

The result saw Botswana finishing third in the group with three points, giving the side a chance to secure a quarter-final spot as one of the best third-placed teams.
