2024 WAFCON: Ghana coach Kim Lars disappointed with defeat to South Africa in opening Group C game
The head coach of the Black Queens of Ghana, Kim Lars Bjorkegren, expressed his disappointment with the defeat to South Africa in the 2025 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) on Thursday, July 7.
Speaking in a post-match interview, the coach said he was however impressed with the performance of his players.
“Of course, I’m a little bit disappointed with the result, but not so disappointed with the performance. As I said, it was going to be a close game, and I think it was,” Coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren said.
Ghana’s game against South Africa was a close contest that saw the defending Champions taking their chances to secure all three points.
The Black Queens entered the game as underdogs but managed to put up a very strong performance.
After the first round of games, the Black Queens of Ghana will now prepare for their second match against Mali on Friday, July 11.
South Africa, on the other hand, will face off with Tanzania in their second match in Group C.
