Morocco head coach Tariq Sektioui has announced strategic changes to his squad as the Atlas Lions prepare to face Zambia in the 2024 CHAN tournament.
Currently third in Group A with three points from two matches, Morocco face the real threat of early elimination.
The defending champions of the 2018 and 2021 editions now trail group leaders Kenya and Angola by three points, making a victory against Zambia essential.
In response, Sektioui and his technical team have made three significant adjustments to the starting lineup.
RS Berkane’s Eid Al-Haq Al-Assal will anchor the defense in place of Raja’s Al-Arasi, while Ayoub Khairy is set to bolster the midfield.
Leading the attack will be league and Confederation Cup top scorer Osama Al-Mlioui, who replaces the injured Fath forward Ayoub Mouloua.
The lineup changes come after Morocco’s surprising defeat to Kenya, following an impressive opening victory over Angola.
With the next match against Congo also looming, Sektioui has turned to his most experienced players to maximize Morocco’s chances of advancing to the knockout stage.
