Cameroon’s preparations for the 2014 World Cup play-offs have begun, with the team in training at Lisses in the Paris region before heading to Radès to face Tunisia on October 13. However, there is still no news from striker Samuel Eto’o, who announced his international retirement a month ago following the team’s qualification against Libya. Despite the commotion in the press, coach Volker Finke has consistently maintained that Eto’o is selectable until he officially announces his decision. According to reports, Eto’o is expected to have a meeting with Cameroonian authorities, including President Paul Biya, after which his return to the squad for the play-offs will be determined. The anticipation is high for Eto’o to lead Cameroon to qualification for the World Cup in Brazil.
