The official announcement from FIFA confirms the venue for the Senegal-Uganda match, marking the 6th day of the 2014 World Cup qualifiers. Alain Giresse, the coach of the Teranga Lions, initiated the request to his federation.
Initially slated for Conakry, the match’s location was later endorsed by FIFA and CAF to be in Morocco. On September 7, Senegal and Uganda will square off at Marrakech Stadium for the group’s final. Both teams retain strong chances of progressing to the next stage of qualifications. The Lions lead their group with 9 points, one more than the Cranes.
Senegal has been playing its away matches since the suspension of the Léopold Sédar Senghor stadium, following clashes against Ivory Coast on October 13, 2012.
