Senegalese supporters who had planned to travel to Casablanca to support and cheer on the Lions in their crucial match against the Elephants are facing a significant setback. Due to a lack of means, approximately 350 supporters find themselves stranded in Dakar.
Seydina Issa Diop, the president of the Senegalese supporters, expresses disappointment, stating that despite promises made by the federation, they did not receive the necessary support to organize the trip. Diop is now appealing to the authorities, requesting assistance in facilitating their journey, including the possibility of a special return flight, so that the Lions can feel the supporters’ presence on Saturday.
He points out that if Côte d’Ivoire managed to send 500 supporters via a special flight to replace Ivorians in Morocco, Senegal should not be left behind in terms of support.
With less than 48 hours before the crucial match, the Senegalese supporters face the unfortunate possibility of not being physically present in Morocco, and instead, they might have to support their team through television broadcasts.
The Senegalese football federation defends itself by explaining that they had expressed the desire to bring the supporters with the support of partners. However, the promised support did not materialize, and the federation suggests that the state has more resources to address such matters.
