Egypt Fight Back but Fall to Chile in Thrilling Friendly
Egypt, currently undergoing a rebuilding phase, were narrowly defeated 3-2 by Chile in a spirited friendly encounter in Santiago on Friday night.
The Pharaohs started strongly, racing into a 2-0 lead within the opening 15 minutes. Mohamed Salah opened the scoring in the 11th minute, with Khaled Kamar doubling Egypt’s advantage just four minutes later.
However, Chile responded with determination, pulling a goal back through Marcelo Diaz in the 26th minute. The South American side then took control in the second half, with Eduardo Vargas netting twice — in the 59th and 77th minutes — to complete the comeback and secure victory in their first warm-up match ahead of the 2014 World Cup.
Despite the loss, Egypt showed promise and fighting spirit as they prepare for the tournament in Brazil.
