Coach Kwesi Appiah has made a strategic move by recalling retired players Michael Essien, Kevin-Prince Boateng, and Andre Ayew for Ghana’s crucial 2014 World Cup qualifier against Zambia on September 6 in Kumasi. The Ghana Football Federation (GFA) revealed a squad of 26 players on Tuesday.
Notably absent from the list are Sulley Muntari and Jordan Ayew, with the coach making a deliberate decision. However, it’s worth noting that Jordan Ayew had expressed his availability for the Black Stars. The roster includes Anderlecht’s rising talent, Frank Acheampong, who has been performing exceptionally well in the Jupiler Pro League. No players from the local championship made it to this selection.
After facing Zambia, Ghana is set to play a friendly against Japan on September 10 in Yokohama.
