Brazil’s World Cup plane becomes flying canvas with striking graffiti design
What looks like a toy at first glance is actually a full-sized Boeing 737-800 — and it’s the official aircraft that will carry the Brazilian national team during the World Cup.
The plane has captured widespread attention online, thanks to its eye-catching and unconventional exterior. The vibrant graffiti artwork was created by renowned Brazilian twin artists Otavio and Gustavo Pandolfo, celebrated for their distinctive style featuring characters with yellow skin tones.
Speaking to El País, Gustavo explained the inspiration behind the design: “We wanted to break the routine of traveling on normal planes. We want passengers to fly in a work of art.”
The striking makeover took between 10 and 15 days to complete in a hangar at Confins Airport in Belo Horizonte. The artists used around 1,200 cans of special spray paint to bring the plane to life with their colourful tribute to the Brazilian people.
While the exterior dazzles with its bold graphics, the interior of the aircraft remains unchanged, providing a familiar setting for the team during their travels.
This unique flying canvas perfectly encapsulates the spirit of the host nation as Brazil prepares to welcome the world to the 2014 World Cup.
