Avram Grant, considered one of the most experienced coaches globally, recently shared his thoughts with Cafonline, focusing on the upcoming Football World Cup and the participation of African teams.
Grant expressed confidence in African teams’ potential to excel at the World Cup in Brazil. Specifically, he highlighted Ivory Coast, Ghana, and Nigeria as having the necessary assets to make significant strides in the tournament.
“I am confident that African teams will produce excellent results at the World Cup this summer in Brazil. I sincerely think that with high morale, Ivory Coast, Ghana, and Nigeria could reach the quarter-finals and write a new page in the history of African football,” said the Israeli technician.
Grant pointed out that no European team has yet won a World Cup organized in South America, suggesting that the 2014 edition might present an opportunity for African teams. He emphasized the importance of technical expertise for African teams to compete effectively at the highest level.
Furthermore, Grant expressed his belief that Africa will eventually produce a World Cup champion. He attributed the continent’s potential success to a change in mentality, particularly in critical moments of matches. Additionally, he admitted to having a slight preference for Stephen Keshi’s Nigeria.
