French Icons Rally Behind Les Bleus Ahead of 2014 World Cup
As the 2014 World Cup approaches, two of France’s most influential figures have publicly shown their support for the national team, boosting morale ahead of the tournament in Brazil.
President François Hollande lent his encouragement on Thursday, emphasizing the importance of unity and national pride as Les Bleus prepare to compete on the world stage.
Following this, Aimé Jacquet, the revered coach who led France to its only World Cup triumph in 1998, joined the squad at the invitation of current coach Didier Deschamps. Jacquet shared a lunch with the 23 players, offering guidance and inspiration.
Lucas Digne, the team’s left-back, reflected on the meeting: “He is a very great coach, the only coach who has won the World Cup with France. He is the elite. He spoke to us about the World Cup, he told us that it was a fabulous moment to share together, that the group had to be united to go far.”
Jacquet’s presence and words underscored the legacy and aspirations of the French team as they prepare for what promises to be a fiercely competitive tournament.
