Zoumana Camara, despite being offered the opportunity to play for Olympique Lyonnais this season, made the decision to stay with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and even extended his contract until the end of the season. The Franco-Malian, although currently serving as the fourth central defender and a substitute, stands by his choice.
In an interview with My Sports Channel, Camara acknowledged the contact with Lyon but expressed his contentment with staying in Paris. He cited his satisfaction with life in the capital, despite acknowledging Lyon’s transitional phase, both in terms of performance and finances.
The beginning of the season posed challenges for Camara, but with the absence of Thiago Silva, the coach has placed trust in him. Camara is pleased with this opportunity and continues to contribute to the team, making appearances in both Ligue 1 and the Champions League.
Beyond his on-field role, Camara has become an indispensable figure in the PSG locker room. With his experience in England and Italy, his polyglot abilities have positioned him as a key link among players. He has also formed a close relationship with Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Given his influential role within the team, it comes as no surprise that Camara opted to extend his contract until the end of the season, turning down Lyon’s approaches in the process.
