Zlatan Ibrahimovic: He Predicts Brazil to Win the 2014 World Cup

Ibrahimovic Tips Brazil for World Cup Glory — With a Cheeky Dig at France

Zlatan Ibrahimovic may not be playing at the 2014 World Cup, but that hasn’t stopped the Paris Saint-Germain striker from weighing in with his trademark confidence and flair. Currently vacationing in Brazil for the tournament, the Swedish star has made his prediction: Brazil will lift the trophy — against Italy in the final.

“I see Brazil winning the final against Italy,” Ibrahimovic told reporters, confidently backing the host nation to go all the way.

Never one to shy away from a playful jab, Ibrahimovic also had a few words for his adopted countrymen in France. “For my French friends, I hope they have a good World Cup,” he added with a grin — a comment likely to amuse and perhaps slightly irk French fans, particularly those who cheer him on week in and week out at PSG.

Ibrahimovic’s visit to Brazil included a notable appearance at Thursday’s match between England and Uruguay, where he was spotted in the company of PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi. The pair’s presence in the stands sparked media attention, although no official PSG business was discussed publicly.

Though Sweden failed to qualify for the tournament, Ibrahimovic remains a headline-grabber wherever he goes. And while he won’t be gracing the pitch in Brazil, his presence — and his opinions — continue to make waves during football’s biggest event.
