Zizo’s lawyer challenges lack of reasons for decision in dispute with Zamalek

Ashraf Abdel Aziz, the lawyer for Al Ahly forward Ahmed Sayed “Zizo”, says he has still not received the Players’ Affairs Committee’s reasons for dismissing his client’s complaint against former club Zamalek.

The committee previously notified Zamalek that it had decided to close the case after reviewing the complaint and the documents submitted by both sides.

However, Abdel Aziz claims the committee has not provided the legal grounds for its decision. He says that failure could make the ruling invalid if it is challenged before the Appeals Committee.

“We have not received until now the reasons and grounds for the Players’ Affairs Committee’s decision to dismiss Zizo’s complaint against Zamalek, as if it were a secret, and there has been no response up to this moment,” Abdel Aziz said on CBC television.

“This makes the decision invalid before the Appeals Committee, and I have already requested that.”

Zizo submitted a complaint to the Egyptian Football Association seeking payment of outstanding financial dues he says are owed to him by Zamalek.

Zamalek, in turn, filed its own complaint against the player. The club’s case relates to Zizo’s alleged absence from training during the final period of his time at the Cairo club.

Abdel Aziz also questioned how the timing of the committee’s written reasons could be established if they were now sent to him.

“If the reasons are sent now, I will challenge them for forgery because they were not announced within the legal 10-day period. How am I supposed to know when these reasons were issued?” he added.

The committee’s decision followed its examination of the complaint and the evidence provided by both Zizo and Zamalek before it opted to close the case.

Zizo left Zamalek after his contract ended in the summer of 2025. He subsequently joined Al Ahly on a free transfer at the start of the following season.

The dispute is therefore linked to the final stage of the player’s spell at Zamalek and his move to the club’s main domestic rival, Al Ahly. Zizo is now listed as an Al Ahly player, having departed Zamalek when his previous agreement expired.

The legal process remains focused on the committee’s decision to dismiss the complaint and whether its reasons were issued and communicated within the required period. Abdel Aziz says he has already asked the Appeals Committee to consider the decision invalid because the grounds have not been provided.

No reasons have yet been received by the lawyer, according to his account, while both parties’ complaints have been considered by the Egyptian Football Association’s relevant bodies.
