Zizo finally opens up on Al Ahly salary
Al Ahly star Ahmed Mostafa, popularly known as Zizo, has publicly addressed the long-running speculation surrounding his salary at Al Ahly SC, revealing what he described as the true value of his contract during a televised appearance in Ramadan 2026.
The Egypt international made the revelation while featuring on the fifth episode of Ramez Level Monster, hosted by Ramez Galal on MBC.
The episode drew significant attention, particularly as it touched on sensitive issues linked to his controversial move from Zamalek SC to their historic rivals Al Ahly last summer.
When questioned about the widely discussed figures surrounding his contract, and the apparent discrepancy between reported amounts and what the Football Association had announced, Zizo stated that his real salary is “only 3 million pounds.”
His response immediately sparked reaction, with Ramez Galal responding sarcastically: “So your contract with Al-Ahly is 3 and with the Football Association it’s 5 million pounds?”
The programme also explored football-related comparisons. Asked to choose between Emam Ashour and Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane as the more important player, Zizo avoided favouritism, saying, “Both of them are important to the team.”
When pressed on whether Emam Ashour or Mahmoud Hassan, known as Trezeguet, is the best in Egypt, he replied, “Both are better than each other.”
The episode also revealed an emotional side of the player. Under the intense pressure of the show’s trademark pranks, Zizo lost his composure at one point, smashing studio glass and suffering a minor hand injury in the process.
In the closing moments, he was asked what he would say to Zamalek fans. Zizo initially chose silence before being asked whether they would be happy about what had happened to him during the episode.
He answered in the affirmative, capping off a television appearance that has since generated widespread discussion among Egyptian football supporters.
