Zion Suzuki set for PSG medical this weekend

Zion Suzuki is reportedly close to completing his move from Parma to Paris Saint-Germain, with his medical examination expected to take place before Sunday.

The Japanese goalkeeper has already reached an agreement with the French champions, who are preparing a transfer worth approximately €35 million.

Suzuki’s arrival follows an impressive season with Parma and a strong World Cup campaign for Japan. His absence from Parma’s squad for Friday’s Coppa Italia meeting with Catania has further fuelled speculation that the transfer is imminent.

Although PSG already have several goalkeepers, the club’s plans for Suzuki have changed in recent days. The initial expectation was that he would immediately join Juventus on loan, but that option now appears unlikely to go ahead.

Italian reports claim Juventus withdrew from negotiations after PSG reconsidered their position. Luis Enrique reportedly wants to assess Suzuki during training before deciding whether the newcomer should remain in Paris. The club also needs to clarify Lucas Chevalier’s future before finalising its goalkeeping hierarchy.

Matvey Safonov is currently regarded as PSG’s first-choice goalkeeper, while the squad includes several other options. However, Suzuki’s performances have convinced Paris to take their time rather than rush him into another move.

If the medical is completed successfully, PSG could announce the transfer this weekend, marking a major step in the 23-year-old’s career.
