Zidane Visits Marseille for Coaching Workshop Amid Growing Speculation
French football legend Zinedine Zidane recently completed a training session at Olympique de Marseille, sparking renewed speculation about his future coaching ambitions — and possibly a long-term link with the Ligue 1 giants.
As part of his managerial training programme, Zidane spent time at the Robert Louis-Dreyfus training centre, where he observed and exchanged ideas with OM head coach Marcelo Bielsa. Footage released by OM TV shows the pair deep in conversation, with Bielsa explaining his tactical approach:
“On the top pitch, we reproduce what happened in the match… And on the lower pitch, we look for ways to solve the problems.”
Zidane was accompanied by several notable figures from the French football world, including Claude Makelele, Eric Roy, and Bernard Diomède, all of whom are also involved in coaching development.
While Zidane’s presence in Marseille was strictly educational, the visit has inevitably stirred whispers about a potential future in the OM dugout. The club currently leads Ligue 1, and Bielsa’s tactical philosophy is seen as a valuable model for aspiring coaches.
For now, however, Zidane remains tied to Real Madrid, where he has been involved in coaching roles at the youth and reserve levels. His visit to Marseille was part of the UEFA Pro License pathway, which all top-tier managers must complete.
Whether Zidane will one day take charge at his hometown club remains to be seen, but the symbolic weight of his visit has not gone unnoticed. For Marseille fans dreaming of a Zizou homecoming, this may have been an intriguing glimpse of what the future could hold.
