Zinedine: Cape Verde midfielder joins Sp. Viana on free transfer from GD Portel

Cape Verde defensive midfielder Zinedine has joined Portuguese side Sp. Viana on a free transfer from GD Portel. The 26-year-old has signed a deal running until 30 June 2027 after completing his move on 10 July 2026.

Zinedine, born in Cha das Caldeiras on 30 August 1999, specialises in the holding midfield role and is right-footed. Standing at 1.80m, he arrives to strengthen the spine of the Sp. Viana side as they reshape their squad for the new campaign.

His switch to Viana continues a sequence of free transfers within Portuguese football in recent seasons. Zinedine moved to GD Portel in July 2025 after a spell with Juventude de Evora, having previously been on the books at Atletico Reguengos. The move to Portel also came without a transfer fee.

The midfielder now makes the step to Sp. Viana after one season with Portel, during which he also featured in the national cup set-up, including involvement in the Taca de Portugal. His experience across several clubs in the region adds depth and familiarity with the domestic competition structure.

Zinedines contract at Sp. Viana ties him to the club until the end of the 2026-27 season, completing his free transfer from GD Portel.
