Wolverhampton Wanderers have sanctioned a temporary exit for midfielder Marshall Munetsi, allowing the Zimbabwe international to join Paris FC on loan until the end of the season in a move shaped by fitness concerns and shifting priorities at Molineux.
The 29-year-old has been sidelined since December 3 after sustaining a calf injury against Nottingham Forest, limiting his involvement during a critical phase of Wolves’ campaign.
Despite making 13 Premier League appearances this season, Munetsi’s influence was sporadic, highlighted by a single goal in a 3-2 defeat to Burnley.
Manager Rob Edwards and his technical staff have opted to rebalance the squad, permitting the midfielder to seek regular minutes elsewhere as Wolves quietly gather momentum without him.
For Munetsi, the move represents a return to familiar territory. He heads back to Ligue 1, where he spent six productive years with Reims between 2019 and 2025, having recorded four goals and two assists across 31 appearances for Wolves since his arrival.
Paris FC, currently 15th in the French top flight, see the loan as a timely reinforcement ahead of the second half of the season.
Confidence is already high at the club following a morale-boosting 1-0 victory over Paris St-Germain in the Coupe de France, sealed by Jonathan Ikoné on Monday night.
Paris FC head coach Stéphane Gilli has been clear about what Munetsi brings to his squad. “He’s a profile we didn’t have, a player with great athletic power, a box-to-box midfielder,” Gilli said. “He is capable of operating in several roles in midfield. He has even played centre-back from time to time.”
Gilli believes Munetsi’s physical presence and experience will add a new dimension to his side. “He’ll give us a bit more impact, a bit more size,” he added. “He has leadership qualities. He may not be the most vocal in the dressing room or in training, but in matches he’ll bring energy.”
