The Zimbabwe Football Association has suspended three match officials following concerns raised over their performance in a Premier Soccer League fixture between Bulawayo Chiefs and Dynamos FC.

Referee Nelson Meke, alongside assistant referees Mncedisi Maphosa and Taurai Murangwanwa, have each been handed a four-match suspension running from matchday 4 to matchday 7.

According to an official statement, the decision follows their handling of the league encounter played at Barbourfields Stadium in Bulawayo on March 19, 2026.

The Match Commissioner’s report indicated that the officiating team did not meet the expected standards required at the top level of domestic football.

The officials were also found to have breached paragraph 21 of the referees’ Code of Conduct, prompting disciplinary action from the football governing body.

ZIFA reiterated its commitment to upholding professionalism, accountability and high officiating standards within Zimbabwean football, stressing that all match officials are expected to maintain strict adherence to established guidelines.

The suspension serves as part of ongoing efforts to improve refereeing consistency and restore confidence in match officiating across the domestic league.
