The annual Match Against Poverty will once again bring together a host of football legends this Monday in Saint-Etienne, with the primary focus on raising awareness and funds to combat the ongoing battle against Ebola. Organized by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in collaboration with ambassadors Zinedine Zidane and Ronaldo, this charity match promises to be another star-studded affair.
This year’s match is particularly poignant, as it is dedicated to the fight against Ebola, an epidemic that has devastated communities across West Africa, particularly since March 2014. The tragic loss of thousands of lives has sparked global efforts to address the crisis, and this event continues to serve as an important platform to support these efforts.
The match will feature a team of Friends of Ronaldo and Zidane facing off against an All-Star team from Saint-Etienne. Among the football greats who will be playing for Zidane and Ronaldo’s team are Cafu, Clarence Seedorf, Edwin van der Sar, Eric Abidal, Christian Karembeu, Youri Djorkaeff, and Fabien Barthez.
