André Villas-Boas, the former coach of Tottenham Hotspur, has found a new coaching role with Zenit St. Petersburg in Russia. The news of his appointment was revealed by his friend Jorge Jesus, the coach of Benfica.
Zenit St. Petersburg had been without a coach since Luciano Spalletti’s departure earlier in the week. The Russian club, currently second in the league standings, has turned to Villas-Boas to lead the team.
Villas-Boas, who has been free since leaving Tottenham, will face an immediate challenge as Zenit prepares to travel to Dortmund for the second leg of the Champions League round of 16. Zenit currently trails 4-2 from the first leg. It remains to be seen whether Villas-Boas will be on the bench for this crucial match.
