ZED’s Ahmed El Soghairy faces up to two months out with knee injury

ZED midfielder Ahmed El Soghairy will be sidelined for between six weeks and two months after suffering a second-degree sprain to the medial collateral ligament in his knee.

The 28-year-old was injured during ZED’s Egyptian league match against El Qanah in the fifth round of the season.

“Ahmed El Soghairy suffered a second-degree sprain to the medial collateral ligament of the knee,” a source from ZED told FilGoal.com.

“He will be out for a period of between six weeks and two months.”

El Soghairy went down in the 23rd minute of the first half and was replaced by Mohamed Ezz. ZED went on to win the match 2-1.

The midfielder had started every one of ZED’s domestic matches this season before the injury.

He also scored the first continental goal in ZED’s history, finding the net against Djibouti side ASAS during the club’s first appearance in the CAF Confederation Cup.

El Soghairy joined ZED from Pharco in January 2024. He had previously played for Aswan and Misr Lel Makkasa.
