Zed FC kept their grip on first place in the Egyptian Premier League relegation group after a goalless draw against Al-Ittihad Alexandria on Tuesday night at Cairo Stadium.
In a quiet clash that offered little attacking flair, both sides struggled to create real danger. The only notable threat came late, when Al-Ittihad’s Youssef Osama Nabih fired a shot from close range that nearly broke the deadlock.
The match saw a reunion as Zed FC faced former manager Magdy Abdel-Ati, now in charge of the visiting Al-Ittihad. However, neither side could find the breakthrough to tilt the tie in their favor.
Under the guidance of coach Hamada Sedky, Zed’s steady form continued. The point took their total to 29, keeping them at the top of the relegation group table.
Al-Ittihad, meanwhile, moved to 23 points. They now sit in third, just behind Tala’ea El-Geish and Smouha on goal difference as the fight for safety tightens in the final rounds.
