Zambia’s national team coach, Afram Grant, deemed the draw against Tanzania in the African Cup of Nations 2023 group stage disappointing, setting the stage for a pivotal encounter against Morocco on Wednesday.
Speaking at the post-match press conference after the Tanzania game, Grant expressed his desire for his players to exhibit the same spirit and determination they showed in the previous match.
“I am not satisfied with the draw, but we must also consider the circumstances of the match.
We conceded an early goal and suffered numerical disadvantage after a player was sent off in the 44th minute.
Despite that, we managed to hold our ground and secure a draw in the final minutes of the game,” he said.
Grant conveyed his satisfaction with the players’ response in the Tanzania match and hopes for a similar commitment in Wednesday’s game.
“We are aware that the Moroccan national team is formidable, but we do not fear them.
We will face them head-to-head, and I hope we deliver a good performance and display strong character.”
It’s worth noting that Zambia currently shares the second position with the Democratic Republic of the Congo, both with two points, in Group 6, which is currently led by the Moroccan national team with four points.
Tanzania occupies the last position with a single point. The upcoming clash between Zambia and Morocco holds significant importance as both teams vie for progression in the tournament.
