The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has announced a series of friendly matches scheduled for June as part of the national team’s preparations ahead of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Chipolopolo will face Cameroon on June 9 in Madrid, serving as sparring partners for the Indomitable Lions, who are fine-tuning their squad ahead of the tournament. This match provides an opportunity for Zambia to test tactics and assess player form against one of Africa’s top sides.
Following the encounter with Cameroon, Zambia will travel to Morocco to play Gambia on June 12 in Marrakech. The fixture is expected to help the team adjust to playing conditions in North Africa and continue building cohesion ahead of AFCON.
The final friendly of the preparatory program will see the Chipolopolo take on Morocco on June 16, offering another valuable test against one of the host nation’s strongest sides. These matches will allow coach and staff to evaluate players, finalize strategies, and ensure the team is in optimal condition for the tournament.
With Cameroon and Morocco both competing in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, these friendly matches are expected to be highly competitive, providing Zambia with quality preparation against teams that will also be vying for continental glory.
The FAZ’s announcement underscores the association’s commitment to giving the Chipolopolo the best possible preparation ahead of AFCON 2019, which will be held in Egypt from June 21 to July 19.
