Zamalek’s fresh signing Ahmed Rabie faces injury setback just days after joining
Zamalek’s preparations for the new season were dealt an early blow as their newest signing, Ahmed Rabie, picked up an injury during group training.
The midfielder, who recently penned a five-year deal with the White Castle after a move from nationaly Bank, had only just begun settling into his new team.
Rabie completed his transfer on Tuesday after finalizing all terms with Zamalek’s sporting director, John Edward, in a smooth negotiation process that had fans eager to see him in action.
However, optimism quickly turned to concern after he limped off the pitch during training. “Ahmed Rabie suffered an injury to his anterior muscle and is undergoing a two-week training program,” a club source told Kooora.
The source added that the player will undergo further tests to determine the full extent of the problem. “Initial tests show he has a tear in his anterior muscle, but the medical staff preferred that the player undergo further tests,” the source said.
While the injury isn’t considered long-term, Zamalek fans will be hoping their new star returns fully fit.
