Zamalek’s Ahmed Rabie will miss the club’s next two matches after suffering a broken nose during the first leg of their CAF Champions League tie against the Rwandan Army.
Rabie started Zamalek’s 1-0 victory over the Rwandan side in the first leg of the round-of-32 tie. He has now confirmed the injury, with an initial assessment indicating that he will be unavailable for the league match against Assiut Petroleum and the return leg against the Rwandan Army.
The player is expected to wear a protective face mask when he returns to action for Zamalek.
Rabie addressed the injury in a post on his Instagram account, writing: “Praise be to God in all circumstances. A broken nose, and it is what God has decreed.”
Zamalek secured a narrow advantage in the first leg, which was played at the Rwandan Army’s stadium. The Egyptian club will now turn their attention to their Egyptian Premier League fixture against Assiut Petroleum in the seventh round.
The return match against the Rwandan Army will take place at Cairo Stadium next Saturday.
Rabie joined Zamalek at the start of last season after moving from National Bank of Egypt. The 25-year-old has made nine appearances for the club since the beginning of the current campaign.
