Zamalek’s Ahmed Abdelrahim ‘Esho’ confirms new contract with Egyptian champions
Zamalek forward Ahmed Abdelrahim “Esho” has confirmed that he has signed a new contract with the Egyptian champions.
The 38-time appearance maker announced the agreement on Saturday, bringing an end to uncertainty over his future at the club.
Esho had previously renewed his contract while John Edward was serving as Zamalek’s sporting director. However, the club’s administration later cancelled that agreement and reopened negotiations with the player, with the new deal being completed on reduced financial terms.
The 23-year-old has made 38 appearances for Zamalek in all competitions and has scored three goals.
Announcing the agreement on his personal social media page, Esho said:
“Today is not simply about signing a new contract; it is confirmation of a story that has never been connected to a piece of paper or a number.
“Zamalek is the place where I took the first step in my career, and the club where I learned the meaning of belonging and how much value and responsibility this shirt carries. It has given me so much.
“I have always believed that I was making the right decision, and that this is what anyone would hope for. That is why my aim was to remain in the place I love, among supporters who have never been just supporters to me, but a part of every moment I have lived inside the club.
“At a time when rumours have become faster than the truth, I hope no-one believes every word written or said on social media, because the truth has never been found entirely there.
“Those who truly know me know who I am. They know how much Zamalek means to me, and that it is genuinely the home where I grew up. My loyalty has never been based on words.
“The story continues… and, God willing, what is to come will be more beautiful and better. I hope I can repay even a small part of the love and trust shown by the Zamalek supporters on the pitch, because in the end I am one of you, and I am proud to have grown up among you.”
The announcement means Esho will continue with Zamalek as the club prepares to build on its status as Egyptian league champions.
His contract situation had been subject to renewed discussions after the administration decided to set aside the earlier agreement and negotiate a fresh deal. The final arrangement allows the player to remain at the club while accepting a lower financial value than the previous terms.
Esho has developed through Zamalek and described the club as both the starting point of his career and the place where he learned what representing its shirt means. His message also addressed the speculation surrounding the negotiations, urging supporters to distinguish between reports on social media and the facts of his situation.
The player closed his statement by stressing his connection with the Zamalek fanbase and expressing his desire to repay their support through his performances on the field.
