Zamalek yet to establish contact with Pitso Mosimane despite strong interest to replace Jose Peseiro

Egyptian football giants Zamalek SC have not initiated formal contact with Pitso Mosimane to take over the club as the new head coach.

Reports earlier this week claimed that Mosimane, a former Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly coach, had emerged as a leading candidate on Zamalek’s shortlist to replace current manager José Peseiro.

The Portuguese tactician’s future at the club is under review following Zamalek’s exit from the CAF Confederation Cup at the quarterfinal stage, where they were eliminated by South African side Stellenbosch FC.

The early exit has reportedly intensified internal discussions about parting ways with Peseiro.

While several outlets have listed Mosimane among the top contenders to take over at the five-time CAF Champions League winners, a new report from Zahraa reveals that no official approach has been made.

“What has happened so far is nothing more than an offer from an agent, and Zamalek has not entered into any official negotiations with Mosimane yet,” a club source told Zahraa.

Peseiro, who took charge in February on an 18-month deal, currently has Zamalek sitting third in the domestic league, but mounting pressure from fans and management may cut his tenure short.

Mosimane is no stranger to Egyptian football, having previously led rivals Al Ahly to multiple titles, including back-to-back CAF Champions League triumphs.
