Zamalek unveil elegant black away kit ahead of CAF Champions League opener

Zamalek have revealed a new black away kit for their CAF Champions League preliminary-round meeting with AS Port, the Djibouti champions, on Friday.

The Egyptian club presented the strip ahead of the first-leg fixture, which will be played at Cairo International Stadium at 20:00 local time. Zamalek will wear the alternative kit for the match as they begin their campaign in Africa’s leading club competition.

Chico Banza, Mohamed Shehata, Mohamed Awad, Mahmoud Hamdy El Wensh and Mohamed Ibrahim featured in the promotional announcement for the new outfit.

The shirt is predominantly black, with Zamalek’s crest placed on the upper-left side in a fluorescent colour. The club’s official account described the design using the words: “Luxury, elegance and beauty”.

Zamalek’s first meeting with AS Port is one of four matches the club are scheduled to play during September, with their fixtures split between the Egyptian Premier League and the CAF Champions League.

The return fixture against AS Port will take place on 12 September, also at Cairo International Stadium, with kick-off scheduled for 20:00.

Between the two continental matches, Zamalek will face Abu Qir Fertilizers in the fourth round of the Egyptian Premier League. That game is also due to be played at Cairo International Stadium on 8 September, starting at 20:00.

Zamalek will then travel to face Ghazl El Mahalla in the fifth round of the Egyptian Premier League on 16 September. The match will be held at Ghazl El Mahalla Stadium, with kick-off set for 20:00.
