Things are going from bad to worse for Zamalek. After suffering a heavy 3-0 defeat to TP Mazembe in Lubumbashi in their opening CAF Champions League match, the Egyptian giants are now facing serious internal turmoil.

According to several reports, the club is experiencing significant financial difficulties. Employees have reportedly gone unpaid for four months, creating growing tension behind the scenes.

Frustrated by the situation, Tunisian defender Hamdi Nagguez has decided to walk away. The right-back, who joined Zamalek in January 2018, has terminated his contract in line with FIFA regulations, which allow players to leave if wages remain unpaid for at least three months.

And he may not be the last. Other players are reportedly considering similar action, while club president Mortada Mansour is under increasing pressure and criticism over his management of the team.

Last season’s CAF Confederation Cup winners, Zamalek are also struggling domestically, currently sitting fifth in the Egyptian Premier League behind Al Mokawloon, Al Ahly, Pyramids FC, and Al Ittihad Alexandria, compounding what has become a very difficult period for the club.
