Zamalek trio join Egypt Under-17 camp after ZED defeat

Zamalek players Ahmed Safwat, Adham Haseeb and Ezzat Mohamed have joined the Egypt Under-17 national team’s training camp after featuring in their club’s match against ZED.

Zamalek lost 3-0 to ZED in the opening round of the Egypt Capital Cup group stage.

The three players reported to the Egypt Under-17 camp as the squad prepares for the Gulf Cup, according to FilGoal.com.

Zamalek had earlier contacted the national team, managed by Hussein Abdel Latif, to request permission for the players to arrive late at the camp so they could take part in the match against ZED.

The Egypt Under-17 team, made up of players born in 2009, began its camp on Wednesday. It will continue until 14 October at the National Teams Centre in 6th of October City.

The tournament is scheduled to begin in Qatar on 16 October. Egypt’s delegation will travel to the country on 14 October with a final squad of 23 players.

Egypt have been drawn in a group with Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Kuwait and Yemen.

The other group contains United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Oman, Qatar and China.

Qatar will host the tournament from 17 October to 4 November 2026, with 10 teams taking part in the biggest edition in the competition’s history.
