Zamalek SC is targeting snatching Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Miguel Cardoso ahead of the 2025/26 season.
The Egyptian giants are currently in search of a new head coach after Jose Peseiro was shown the exit over poor performance.
In recent times, Pitso Mosimane and Rulani Mokwena have been linked to the club, but talks seem to have broken down.
However, fresh reports from the Egyptian media suggest that Miguel is among the potential targets for the White Knights.
The reports add that the club are going through a number of coaches and their CVs, with the club’s sporting director John Edward set to finalise an appointment soon.
“Zamalek officials are currently reviewing the CVs of several coaches, and the list has now been narrowed down to just three candidates,” the source said.
“One of the agents has proposed Portuguese coach Miguel Cardoso, who is currently managing South African side Mamelodi Sundowns, to take over as Zamalek’s head coach next season.
“Zamalek are in the final stages of selecting the new head coach,” the source said.
“It’s expected that John Edward, the club’s sporting director, along with the planning committee, will finalise the appointment within the coming days. There are expectations that the manager will be officially announced next Monday.”
Zamalek finished third in the Egyptian Premier League this past season and crashed out of the CAF Confederation Cup at the quarter-final stage.
